What a Difference a Day Makes...
Ok, the day before this picture it was 20 degrees and snowing in Wisconsin. A week before it was 29 BELOW zero in Wisconsin. And then, the day after we got back from the midwest, we were hanging out on the beach in San Francisco...this is why is costs so darn much to live here and why y'all end up sleeping on the floor when you visit b/c we can't afford a bigger house.

Christmas Eve Snow!!!
Mini had a great time this christmas eve morning in the snow outside Nana's place in Madison, Wisconsin. It got to a balmy 20 degrees and we hit the powder - it was 29 below two days ago!

Taking Ohio!
We went to Toledo, Ohio to work on the election...it was amazing to be part of such an historic week...Mini was a champ and insisted on cleaning her teeth regularly to maintain that vote-getting smile. Go Obama!!!!!!

Mini's 1st Birthday
Juliet did not feel like dirtying her hands, so instead went face first into her sugar-free Obama mini-cake. Take that McPalin! Any kids out there eating your cakes without their hands? Huh?

Ridiculous
Ladybird was giving Mini a little wash when she (Mini) decided she would rather just go whole hog into the bathroom sink...this is a really small sink. She seems to like it.

Birthday Trip!
We had a great time in the City today. Took the ferry over (first boat ride!), and we hired the Blue Angels to fly overhead all day for Mini's birthday! She really liked it except they kept waking her up from her naps...Mini is really into the celebration of war machines.

Mini and the Melon
Mini loves summer because Mini LOVES fruit. She devoured this water melon today and you can tell how much she likes it by the size of her eyes. The melon started out about a big as her head and ended up mostly in her tummy.

Mini Does Iowa
Mini did RAGBRAI 2008 with a grrr and a smile! She took camping in a different town each night in stride, including a tornado evacuation, multiple hand-offs, car rides, swimming pool adventures, heat, rain, wind, loud trains all night long, music, and an abundance of corn and pork. Go Mini!
Mini on the Divide
Mini made it to the Continental Divide a couple weeks ago. Here she is in Rocky Mountain National Park...she was a dream mini all the way across the country to Iowa. Smiling all the way and getting us entrance into all kinds of things normally forbidden to grown ups alone.

Mini and a Bottle of Wine - 36 Weeks!
Ok, so we skipped a week, but 36 is a good one! Mini's new favorite thing is to (literally) devour plums. It was pretty hard to get the wine bottle into the picture at all. Tomorrow Juliet turns 9 months and we go to the doc to get her new vitals...stay tuned for that. We're taking wagers on percentiles!

Mini gets her own bottle of wine!!!
Looks like the old 1980 Cab is finally going to get consumed! Mini has her own vintage now, care of Grandpa (biG) Joe DiStefano, who bottled a vintage in her honor on October 9, 2007 (coincidence?). A Zinfandel, which like Mini, is a bit young and sparky, but will hopefully mellow and get more sophisticated over time. Thanks grandpa!

Mini and the Volcano
Mini went to Lassen Volcanic National Park last weekend and had a great time. She climbed Cinder Cone, a volcano that blew its top in the 1600s, hiked across a snow field to an area of bubbling mud and sulpher springs, and was protected in a bear box. You can check out more pics of the trip here.

Mini and a Bottle of Wine - 34 Weeks!
Mini spends a lot of time in her chair eating now...she likes the feeling of food squishing through her fingers and the look of her dad with food in his hair. She also continues to like this wine bottle, in any and all positions...34 weeks...go Mini!
Also, just as an update, Mini started a new nanny-share last week and so far it's great. Families are really nice and the nanny is very good. Her name is Gloria and she is able to get Mini to sleep for more than an hour in her crib regularly! Either she has some Peruvian magic potion or Mini has us dumb padres all figured out.

Standin'
Mini's big thing this weekend was pulling up to the standing position. She's all about being up now...pull up on this, then that, then that, then fall. So no crawling yet, but a little moving backwards on her stomach and now standing tall.

Strawberry Wet Music Fest

We went on our first family "camping trip" this past weekend with Krazybird and Jamie. Off to Strawberry Music Festival up near Yosemite, where a week ago it was 90 degrees and sunny and then it wasn't....cold, rainy, hail, and even snow on the Tioga Pass! It was still a lot of fun, but it was, well, cold and rainy. But we had the camper van, which kept us warm while Kristen and Jamie slept in their tent, uh, outside. Here are some shots of us in the van, where we mostly were.

Training for a Ride
We are prepping Mini for her first ride with a helmet...she can keep the helmet on for about 10 minutes before she becomes a Tasmanian devil in a helmet....you can see the 2-second mood change in this series.
